I bought a couple new Orly polishes. They were still on sale from a couple weeks ago (click Here) and they had the one I wanted: Orly Royal Velvet. The first time I went, it was sold out and this time I got the last one! I also got Orly "Fancy Fuchsia" which I have used in today's design. Originally this design was going to be my Easter mani but it didn't turn out the way I expected.
I messed up the thumb and index finger before taking the photos which was a shame. I started with two coats of Orly "Funky Fuchsia", although it is thick enough to just use one coat. After it dried, I taped them off and used Orly "Green with Envy". I kinda regret using this colour. When I was choosing which colours to use, the green in the bottle went with the other two but on the nail it came out a bit different. For the tips I used Orly "Lemonade" and the spots were done with Supreme Nails nail art pens in silver.
This was the first time I had tried using tape to do a design. I don't know if I would do it again. It took too long for the polish to dry before doing the next colour and I'm too impatient haha.
beautiful! i like the color combination.
ReplyDeleteI agree! I think the colors go well together. And I like the added touch of the dots. It makes it look like stitching on the patchwork! And I know what you mean about taking too long to dry before you can use tape and the next color! When I do patchwork like this I use the topcoat seche vite between colors. Applied on top of mostly dry polish, it soaks thru the layers and makes it dry that much faster! I can move on to the next color much more quickly. Hope this helps!
ReplyDeleteThanks guys!! :)
ReplyDelete@Leslie: that's a good tip! I'll try to find some SV or other fast drying topcoat. you're right about the patchwork thing too! I've never thought of it like that :D
i don't have the patience for tape either, hahaha. but like leslie said, SV can help that!
ReplyDeleteif you have a sally's nearby, SV is on sale for 7.99 until the end of the month.
i wish i had have bought fancy fuchsia instead of royal velvet. i just can't stand it! hahaha, i don't know why.
Aw man! I wish there was a sally's, but we don't have that in NZ. I might have to order it online.
ReplyDeleteFancy Fuchsia is such a happy colour, it brightens my day :) I'd recommend it
